The Teaming Church
In this model people volunteer to a team that interests them. It is hoped that people will commit to the teams one year at a time with the exclusion of the Community Building Team which is very much a project to project team.
The Leadership Team – this team is responsible for the visioning process and the overall keeping of the church on track. This team meets at least 8 times a year. The minister is part of the team.
The Worship Team – this team is responsible for the anything that relates to Worship and the worship space such as Communion, Baptism, banners, music, and pulpit supply, the sound system. This team meets at least 4 times a year. This team works with the minister.
The Property and Finance Team – this team is responsible for the financial business of the church and the maintenance of the property. This team is responsible to inform the congregation of where it stands financially. Caretaking, snow removal, insurance, the Snazzy Seconds contract, signing authority for the church are some of the responsibilities of this team. It meets monthly after the financial statements for the previous month are available. The Treasurer provides the financial documentation for this team.
The Spiritual Formation – this team is responsible for seeing that spiritual learning opportunities are available to a wide range of church members. Its primary responsibility is the staffing and curriculum ideas for the Sunday school but also Bible study opportunities, mission projects and any other learning events it feels are beneficial. This team meets at least 4 times a year. The Minister is a part of this team.
The Pastoral Care Team – this team is responsible to watch over the congregation in a pastoral way; paying attention to illness, hospital stays and other concerns, by visiting, sending cards or telephone calls. This team would also be the oversight team for the Evergreen and Westview Lodge devotional services. This team works with the minister to do its best to care for the congregation’s pastoral needs. This team meets through emails, telephone calls, in person meetings, whatever is the most prompt and effective way to show our concern. The minister liaises with this team.
Event Planning Team – this team is the most flexible in terms of its function and membership. A person may agree to help with a particular function such as the Spring Tea, help out and then be done when the project is complete. A different group of people may agree to help with the Town Wide Garage Sale or a potluck lunch. An idea is brought forward, people are asked to join the team to accomplish the task, the task is completed, that group is done and then another idea is brought forward and so on. A person may help with every task or just one, the decision is yours.
If you would like to send ideas or correspondence to any team please send to the office email or to Rev. Rolanda Taylor's email and they will see that the committee gets the correspondence.
To meet with a Team, note when the team is meeting and speak to one of the team members to let them know you will be expected and so will be placed on the agenda.
